From Arugula to Zucchini
The Good for You Natural Market maintains its own 1-acre market garden farm, located just down Route 9 from the store. We are not certified organic however, all of the seed we use to grow our produce is certified organic. We are free of synthetic herbicides, synthetic pesticides, and, synthetic fertilizers. We do not use animal manures, nor commercial composts. We rotate our crops within season and from season to season. We use drip irrigation and our well was drilled an extra 25 feet deeper than usual to minimize any potential for nutrient leaching into groundwater. We use cover cropping to build the soil and, as experience taught me this season (2007), cover cropping does indeed cut down on weeds! Hmmm.

Welcome to the farm.

Andy putting in peas, patiently...

Spring greens. Our famous Arugula is in there if you look hard.

Golden Swiss Chard. As good as it looks!

Costata Romanesca Summer Squash. Grows 3 inches a day, I swear!

Freckles Lettuce.

Arugula, Bok Choi, Swiss Chard, Eggplant, Herbs, Lettuce, Mustard Greens, Peppers, Spinach, Tatsoi, Tomatoes waiting their turn to set out.

Lettuce eat, now!
While our Arugula and greens have become our fame, we also grow beans, carrots, cucumbers, eggplant, peas, peppers, potatoes, spinach, squash, tomatoes. Everything from Arugula to Zucchini and in-between. We specialize in heirloom and usual varieties that cannot be found in big box retailers. We know the story behind the varieties. The varieties are staggering. 12 varieties of loose-leaf lettuce, 14 varieties of tomato, blue and purple potatoes, purple carrots, lemon cucumbers… Buy Andy an organic beer and he’ll bore you for hours. Produce grown is shipped all of 1/4 mile to our store on Route 9 West, our own kitchen, and local restaurants. Imagine the freshness. Veggies picked and sold the same day.
